When a homeless, but otherwise very well adjusted, teenager starts bleeding out of the ear in the clinic on "House" (Mon., 8 p.m. EST on Fox), she becomes the next patient for the good doctor and his team. There's immediately a conflict though as Adams wants to call in social services and House wants to respect her decision to be on her own.
In typical House fashion, he decides to put Adams' self-righteousness to the test. Throughout the episode he'd been exploring his newfound freedom by trying different, so why not have a diagnostics meeting while skeet shooting. When she wouldn't let it go, House told her she could call social services if she could hit the clay disk on her first try. He'd been missing consistently in his first foray with the sport.
She reluctantly agreed, but then nailed the disk like a pro. Unfortunately, House was one step ahead of her, as they figured out when the social services agent showed up in stiletto heels and was actually getting along with the girl. Once Foreman got involved, the real social services showed up with the girls' mother, who admitted to a past problem with alcohol.
While the two appeared to mend some old wounds while they were there, Adams was wrong about the girl being a closet alcoholic herself, and she was wrong about the mother and daughter reunion she was anticipating. The kid skipped out, not wanting to see her mother relapse -- instead saying she wanted to remember her like clean, sober and happy like in these moments.
Catch "House" Mondays at 8 p.m. EST on Fox.
